A lot of people love Xenoblade 1, 2, and 3, yet all their praise is stacked on story, character, and setting. 99% of people don't even bother wasting their time with it, only the diehard few with nothing better to do with their lives. Go watch reviews of any Disgaea game and see how much of it is dedicated to the endgame. This isn't a dungeon crawler with all generic characters and a barely-there story. They're all wacky characters in a wacky world with lots of humor. There is a reason why Etna, Laharl, and Flonne are so beloved, same with Valatoraz, etc. It's famous for having a fat endgame, but the vast majority of people play it for the same reason they play any other JRPG: the story, setting, and characters.
